The Bey-nin-Çingene is the leader of the Sharifistani Roma.

History
Due to their service in the War of Independence the leader of the Karatas family, Ahmed Karataş was awarded the title of Bey-nin-Çingene, ruler of the Romani people of Sharifistan. This is a tradition that has continued to this day.
Powers and responsibilities
The Bey-nin-Çingene is entitled to a percentage of all tax collected from the Sharifistani Roma and can make decrees for governing them (provided they comply with Islamic law and royal decrees). They have the responsibility for representing their people.
