The Battle of Barfleur Bay was an engagement of the short Imperial-Cornellian War of 1857. A Cornellian fleet under Admiral Quintus Novius Corvus intercepted a Vionna-Frankenlischian squadron under the Earl of Westonland. In a battle lasting five hours, the two fleets caused heavy damage to each other and mutually disengaged when darkness began to fall. The Earl of Westonland, then second in line to the Vionna-Frankenlischian throne, was killed - this being the main consequence of the engagement.
