The som (Karzegh: сом), is the currency of Karzeghistan. Its name comes from the Karzegh word for "pure", referring to historical coins of pure gold.

Speakers of Karzegh in the then Soviet Union called the ruble by this name, and were accommodated by the word appearing on the backs of banknotes.

Currency symbol

The National Bank of Karzeghistan approved an underlined С (as the official currency symbol for the KZS in February 2017.
