This is an incomplete list of the individuals who ruled as monarchs of Thafon and, variously, the Patriarchy. Some of the dates are rough estimates. While the chronological list is mostly well-known after the introduction of writing to Thafon in 1350 BCE, only some monarchs have definite dates. Estimates are made on the average length of reigns, shortened and lengthened based on any sources detailing their events, but will likely still be different from the lost historical facts. The most certain dates are placed in the High Patriarchy era, when great record-keeping ensured that little historical detail was lost. Additionally, some dates in the Late Patriarchy era are well-recorded, though not to the extent that the High Patriarchy did.

Rote vs roll

In Thafonic historiography, there is a differentiation made between "rote monarchs", those who ruled as part of a selective monarchy from amongst the ruling dynasties, and roll monarchs, who were chosen from amongst potential candidates selected by the previous ruler. The term "dynasty" is used in Thafonology to denote confirmed familial ties between monarchs, not necessarily formalised dynastic families.

Pre-Patriarchy period

The period before Thafon developed writing. Names of monarchs are generally based on what foreign nations recorded when undergoing early tin trade with Thafon.

Early Patriarchy era

Thafon developed early writing in c. 1350 BCE, and the period from 1400 BCE to 1200 BCE is considered the Early Patriarchy era, as Thafon began to expand, stand out among the other tribes nearby, and forge alliances and tributes with those same tribes.

Rote monarchs

These monarchs were selected from the prominent families of Thafon. Most of these monarchs were buried in the Natos complex.
