The 1981 Besmenian CCA membership referendum was a referendum that took place on April 19, 1981. The voters were asked here whether Besmenia should join the Coalition of Crown Albatross. With 74.55%, the majority voted for a Besmenian membership in the CCA. Besmenia joined the CCA on November 1, 1981, after the Federal Chamber passed the acession treaty on September 14 and the Federal Senate approved it on September 18.
After the creation of the CCA, debates arose in the late 1970s about whether Besmenia should join the organization. The government under Prime Minister Robert Gleitzmann declined to join.
