Monika Schefer is a Æþurian politician who is the current Supreme Chancellor of the United Republic of Æþurheim. Following the Iron Island Incident and Karlos Vocht abdicating his position, she was elected into office by the High Council of Æþurheim on 21 September 2015 and assumed office on October 1st. For six years prior from 2009 to 2015 she served as the Vice Chancellor of the Assembly.

Schefer was born and raised in Fjarran, Kuldevind stat, before attending the Lowellsburg Statens Akademi for Statsvitenskap on a scholarship in 2006 where she graduated with a bachelors degree. In 2007, she became an aide to the Assemblyman for Kuldevind, taking his place later that year when she uncovered and brought to light a corruption scandal, resulting in he and several other Assemblymen being arrested.

In 2009, despite her young age, she had already used a lot of her new political power to influence education and assist in pushing through several reformist pieces of legislation. Her new energy and drive made her appealing to the High Council, and she was appointed as the Vice Chancellor, a position of importance that the Council could still easily control or dismiss her from if she proved not up to their standards. Instead, she swept the Rad Hus, dominating the Council despite technically being under their control.

As second to Supreme Chancellor Karlos Vocht, he supported her push for economic and political reform while he personally focused on military and foreign affairs, giving them a good dynamic and protection from their political rivals. When the Iron Island Incident occurred, Vocht resigned out of shame, stating he was no longer fit to lead the Republic. In his place, the Council saw only one who could fill his shoes the same way, and Schefer was elevated to the position of Supreme Chancellor of the United Republic of Æþurheim.

As a long time political reformer, Schefer has been described as a firestarter for her brash attitude in demolishing what she sees as faulty political framework, whatever the cost. A good example is the near civil war the country was driven to in response to her Share the Wealth Plan in 2019, though the crisis has slowly abated since then. She has devoted massive effort to reforming the economic and political nature of the Republic, resulting in a return to state sponsored market capitalism and an easing of regulations regarding free speech, media and political regulation. Schefer has also worked to strengthen ties to allies both in the CSN and outside it, negotiating new trade contracts and using those to create common ties to foreigners.
