AleziRadio Festival of Songs 1960 is the third edition of the annual AleziRadio Festival of Songs. It was held in 16th of May 1960 at the Queens Park Theatre, Aubergine, Bristol after the victory of Nathaniel Swayne the previous year. This edition was known as "The ARFOS of the Firsts", where this edition was the first competition to be held in Bristol and the first to be held in a non-capital city, and the first competition where the previous winner tries to defend his/her previous title. The third edition was won by Meriyev Asloan representing Tel Hadiv with the song "אתה ואני", with her victory being the first time that a returning artist won the competition.

The decision to select Aubergine was made due to the fact that the Capital City of Bristol, Victoria, was experiencing the visit of the British Monarch the previous day, and the festivities of the visit making it impossible to quickly clean up and set up the preparations for the competition the day after. Aubergine was also selected due to its near proximity to the capital, making it easy to access by land after delegates arrived at the airport. This edition is also known for being the first competition to be televised, even though it was an experimental testing initiated in around 10,000 television sets around North Alezia.

This edition is also notable for the first edition to implement one of the craziest voting methods in any song festivals in history, where the committee created a team of 36 juries with each region sending six members, where each member ranked all songs from 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest) except for the songs that the region sent in order to minimalize cheating and fraud. And this edition is the first edition that implemented the rule that each artist may only sing one song, in order to equalize everyone's chances on winning.

This edition is also the first time that a duet participated, which is the duo of Pradam Nurshafiqul and Amrania Isabelia from Basna.

Competing Entries and Results

The running order was decided using the same method as the previous year, where it was decided by ranking position of the previous years entry, which means Bristol will open the competition, and Tel Hadiv will close the competition.

There was an incident on the sixth song where Emilia Saarderie accidentally fell down after spinning on her performance, which after consideration in the committee, resulting in Emilia being allowed to sing her song again after all of the other song has been presented. As in the theme of this edition, this is also the first time that an accident happened on stage.

Impact

Meriyev Asloan as with the other winners before her gained popularity after winning the competition. Meriyev's victory was met with pandemonium after she returned to Tel Hadiv. Meriyev gained bigger popularity bigger than her previous levels from last year. Meriyev was also deemed as one of a few inspirational music people that inspire people to try again even after failing once.

After the competition, it was decided that the voting system didn't help the process of the competition, instead making it much more harder for everyone, and people are actually starting to love the 30-member jury vote at this point, and thus it was decided to ditch the voting system of this year and the committee decided to revert back to the old voting system. Even if it failed, the 1960 voting system remained as one of the most iconic moments where Alezians are more daring on the system of the competition.

Emilia Saarderie's stage accident also become one of the most iconic Alezian stage accidents ever and her accident raised her popularity even more especially after her name being put in the headlines of the Aramnan Herald of June 1960.
