The Federal District of Atlas, more often simply referred to as Atlas, is the capital of the Federation of Atlesia and the center of its government. The city maintains a unique status in the Federation, as it does not belong to any individual state, but instead exists as a federally-mandated district that lacks the rights afforded to actual states. The city, home to more than 250,000 people, is the center of Atlesian power projection, as it houses all three branches of the federal government, as well as the Citadel, the headquarters of the Federation's armed forces.
