On May 3, 2008, Air Garetolia Flight 172's location was lost while over the Atlantic Ocean. 83 minutes later, air traffic control in Cardiff picked up a distress signal for approximately 2 minutes, before losing contact with the flight. 30 minutes later, Charles de Gaulle Airport recieved a signal from the plane, indicating that everything was okay. When asked about the distress signal, the pilots and several crew members had no recollection of the incident. Polygraph tests and MRI scans confirmed the crew's answers were true. The cause of this remains classified.
