Maria Caroline I (Maria Caroline Sayyad Yuki Este-Sforza, b. February 7th, 2992) is the current Queen-Captain of the Serene Kingdom of Lombardio-Modena, and so far in its history, also one of the youngest. She assumed the title of Queen-Captain when her father, King-Captain Anselmo I was killed on the battlefield at the planet of Scupper Lake, struck by retreating Lyran fire as he dismounted his Battlemech to render aid to his soldiers. Although still technically under Regency, the young Queen has taken a more active role in governance and in her own education, working diligently to better understanding of civics and the art of rule- as well as being tutored in the command of Battlemechs and soldiers. She is known to be quite popular among the people has many see her as a relief from the somewhat more authoritarian tendencies of her father- but given her young age it's hard to estimate where she will fall on many issues.
Much as her father and her predecessors before him, she has inherited the Battlemech that has come to symbolize the title just as much as any crown or jewels, a Dragoon piloted by the first Count of the new Kingdom- Count Giuseppe II.
