The Galactic Duryal Federation (GDF), also known as Duryal is an intergalactic federation with it´s capital planet (Bentyal) located in the Tylos system. The GDF (known as the Republic of Duryal at that time) started expanding to the edges of it's own system at around 2175 A.D and they also started plans on expanding to other systems when it became clear that their isolationist way of life couldn't continue like this. Many opposed these plans but these ways of minds were shortly crushed after the Republic got invaded by a forgein empire known as the Mechanical Horde who saw Duryal as "easy pray" the united Duryal fleet was easily crushed by the horde and an invasion of Bentyal shortly followed. The Droids underestimated their foes however when the combined forces of all the nations on Bentyal started a massive counter attack, using new highly (yet experimental) EMP weapons and arming every citizen for war. The results were in favor of the Mechanical Horde at first but quickly shifted to Duryal's when more stable versions of the EMP weapons came around. The last pocket of droid reminants were defeated in 2184 and the Horde's fleet retreated shortly after. 476 million people died during the war which would later be known as the Unity war because it the citizens of Bentyal now felt part of a larger goal. They felt proud to live under the banner of Duryal.
The ideas of isolationism were completely disregarded after the Unity war as it became clear that an event like this must be avoided in the future at all times. The democracy was demolished and a militaristic olargachy was established to give more power in to goverment. Duryal and it's citizens are quite interested in meeting new species despite all this. They're a people that enjoys learning and exploring and they see their first contact as an inconvenience and have high hopes for the next form of contact. The Galactic Duryal Federation now suspects that their ships will be ready to explore the closest systems in 2200.
