Spiritual weakness is a Forntian Concept considered to be a combination of forces which make a person weak and limited, and unable to cope with existence as it is.

Ignorance

Among which the most powerful force of spiritual weakness is ignorance. Ignorance is a crippling force which denies one understanding of the Law. There are two types of ignorance, Vincible Ignorance and Invincible Ignorance. Vincible Ignorance is ignorance that can be overcome by mere provision of knowledge. Invincible Ignorance is ignorance which the knowledge does not yet exist or cannot be known. This cannot be overcome.

Cowardice

Then there is the limiting force of cowardice. Cowardice is a force which makes a person hesitate to transcend their spiritual weakness, and makes one unwilling to overcome obstacles and threats with integrity and honor. To attempt to shortcut around direct confrontation is also considered cowardice. To attempt to use the wrong means to confront a situation because it is easier is cowardice. To approach something using dishonest means is also considered cowardice.

Unsociability

To be unsociable is for the individual to deny the power of collective strength of the whole. To be unsociable cripples the individual’s ability to commune with others and to be isolated makes one unable to help others or be helped by others. Social Isolation is a crucially vulnerable state which can lead to harm.

Corruption

Corruption is considered to be a horrible weakness as it is the force that knows the Law and Goodness and knows of its power, and instead it attempts to deny and destroy it. It attempts to force away righteousness and delights in evil and lawlessness. It is abject depravity, and willful weakness, hatefulness, greed, and stupidity. It is denial of one’s own sense of loving-kindness, denial of joy that could be shared with others, denial of equanimity, and denial of compassion in the face of suffering or potential suffering. Corruption is one of the most serious spiritual weaknesses.

Recklessness

The state of uncontrolled wantonness is a weakness as it shows the person’s inability to control themselves and act with deliberation. Inability to control reckless actions, reckless words, a reckless mind is considered to be a crucial spiritual weakness. Recklessness can deliver a person into a state of weakness, limitedness, and vulnerability of their own accord.

Irreverence

Irreverence is the inability to appreciate the value of persons, things, or experiences that exist around a person. To devalue objects, persons or experiences is to forget their contribution to what makes the person stronger and less limited in conduct. Devaluation of anything can make one unable to find a way to transcend spiritual weakness even if it is simply right in front of one’s self.
