National Assembly (The Magadi)

The National Assembly (Gaullican: Assemblée nationale), formally known as the National Assembly of the Republic (Assemblée nationale de la République), is the unicameral legislature of The Magadi. It was established under the 1993 constitution. Legislative sessions are held at the Assembly Building in Buholaux.

It has 74 members known as Members of the Assembly (Membres de l'Assemblée; MAs). They are elected to five-year terms. The last election was held on 31 October 2018. All 74 members are directly elected from single-member constituencies using first-past-the-post.

The National Assembly is presided over by its speaker, who is elected by a secret ballot by the body's members. The current speaker is Michel Kidero of the The Magadi Workers' Party.
