Banat, officially known as the Principality of the Banat (Banat German: Fürstentum Banat), is a sovereign state located in Central Europe. It borders Hungary to the north, Pannonia and Slavonia to the west, Serbia to the south, and Cumania to the east. A unitary constitutional monarchy, it is comprised of five constituent states; each labeled as a canton. Banat is one of six remaining principalities in Europe, along with Monaco, Andorra, the Ionian Islands, Liechtenstein, and Dalmatia.
