Astugón
Astugón is the capital and largest city of Escandria. At the most recent census, the city had a population of 434,961. A large proportion of Escandrians live in the city and its administrative area, accounting for approximately 35% of the entire population.
The city was founded in 1403, as a small town called La Bendición. The location of the settlement was chosen for its proximity to the coast, and west-facing direction, towards the then-"motherland", Spain. It is situated on the largest of Escandria's three islands, Santa Eulalia. It slowly began to grow over the centuries as Escandria became a prominent strategic hub for the Spanish.
It was renamed after the Escandrian Revolution of 1515 and the creation of its own monarchy. The newly-elected King of Escandria, King Juan I, was a Spanish nobleman born Juan Pablo Astugón de Palma, and the city was renamed in his honour.
