Politics of Ithelgard

The politics of Ithelgard takes place under the framework established by the Constitution of YEAR. The form of government is a unitary parliamentary semi-constitutional monarchy in which the Monarch is the official head of state and the Executive Minister is the head of government. Executive authority is exercised by the King and his Cabinet. Legislative power is vested in the General Courts, a bicameral parliament which consists of a upper house, the Chamber of Peers, and a lower house, the House of Delegates. The judiciary is officially independent of the other two branches; the High Council (Supreme Court) is the highest court in the nation, and is made up of 7 justices, chaired by the Chief Judge.
