The Supreme Court of the Caldan Union is the highest court in the Caldan judicial system. It consists of fifteen justices and its decisions are the unappealable application of Caldan law. The Supreme Court hears somewhere between 25 and 75 litigants each year, appealing decisions made by provincial courts and federal appellate courts. The Supreme Court is governed by the principles of the common law, the Constitution of the Caldan Union, and federal and provincial statutes. The effects of most Supreme Court precedents, though not the outcome of individual cases, may be nullified by an Act of Parliament. However, decisions rooted in the constitution may only be nullified by the constitutional amendment process.
