The Royal Caldan Armed Forces is the military of the Caldan Union and consists of the Royal Caldan Army, Royal Caldan Navy, and Royal Caldan Air Force. The Royal Caldan Rangers, Royal Caldan Marines, and the Royal Caldan Space Command are sometimes mentioned independently, although they are formally included in the army, navy, and air force respectively.

Caldan military personnel belong either to the regular forces or to the reserves. The reserves are divided between Primary Reserves and the Provincial Defence Forces. The Primary Reserves are associated with the service branches. Members receive periodic training while working in the civilian world. When called into active service, the Primary Reserves are fully integrated with the rest of the armed forces. The Provincial Defence Forces consist of Home Guard and, where applicable, Coast Guard forces organised at the provincial level. These units are never called into foreign service but are dedicated to a purely defencive role. The Provincial Defence Forces also combine occasional training and service with civilian careers except in times of invasion or insurrection.
