Homosexuality in the Auspicious Mouse Kingdom has been documented and is considered a historical part of the relationship between the Mice and the Bears. In ancient theology that records the Era of the Beginning, the Great Bear and the Old Mouse were considered to have had some sort of romantic relationship before they merged with the rest of the Twelve Ancestors to become the Zodiac. Dichotomy of sexuality within the Auspicious Mouse Kingdom follows the philosophy that Huang Shao and the First Council of Scholars established during the Second State of Xiongshu. Much of that philosophy follows a reactionary point-of-view against the restrictions that were put in place by the Celestial Empire. In particular, laws outlawing literature containing mentions of "unsavory character, unbecoming of a male" was used by the Celestial Empire to destroy certain theological and philosophical texts that included mentions of male-male relationships.

The Auspicious Mouse Kingdom and Mice in general do not include self-identification or vanity within ones character as apart of sexual dichotomy. While there are texts and specific romantic relationships between members of the same-sex, it is generally agreed that self-identification of such unbecoming of one's character. Mouse-Bear language lacks characters that would translate as "homosexual" or "heterosexual" in line with this dichotomy. Socially, Mice are polygamist and will often retain two or more partners of both sex. This is however, complicated by marriage between mice.

Terminology

There are several unofficial terms for homosexuality which primarily point to the relationship between the Great Bear and the Old Mouse. The term for it is "gun and spear" (枪棍; Qiānggùn).
