Ideology

The United Liberals exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity.

The United Liberals identifies as a Progressivism political party, emphasizing a broad consensus within its policies between the more Liberalism members of its party and those who advocate Social_liberalism. In spite of this, the party as a whole has a tendency to favor greater government intervention in both economic and social matters.

The party's platform as outlined in their 2017 manifesto is as follows:

  • Implement environmental standards; significantly reduce carbon footprint
  • Overhaul of the country's benefits system to focus on education, healthcare, family
  • Reform of the 33% tax rate to create a more progressive taxation system
  • Reduction of the deficit
  • Investing in the economy: Create a green and fair economy, including expansion of research and innovation spending
  • Investing in the future: free schools, job training, national infrastructure
  • Devolution of further powers to local authorities
  • Constitutional reform to increase oversight on the role of Prime Minister
  • Promotion a more ethical and cooperative foreign policy for Ajerrin
