On July 2nd 2021, CNN reported that just a few days after the conclusion of the state visit of Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom to the United States of America, the Federal Bureau of Investigation had reportedly arrested a group of five unnamed men believed to be orchestrating a plot to assassinate the British monarch. This report was soon confirmed by the FBI, with Director Christopher A. Wray later formally announcing the arrests of five men in total at a small house in Winchester, Virginia. During the ensuing investigation, all five of them were subsequently identified as members, with the purported leader of the five, Nikolas Bray, being an alleged lieutenant of the Three Percenters, an American-Canadian far-right militia.

All five men, including Bray, pleaded not guilty to the charge of conspiracy to murder, specifically by targeting a foreign head of state but were all ultimately sentenced to ten years long imprisonment each, with Bray receiving a total of fifteen years due to his perceived standing as the leader of the plot.
