General elections were held in Alvsberg on 11 April 2005. Following the unpopular rule of Ann Blomqvist the Agrarian leader Rolf Persson got major support from voters. Several Parties lost voters who voted for Rolf instead. Rolfs popularity was caused by his neutral and centrist views, He was proggresive but also a devout christian getting him followers from both Liberals, Leftists and Christian Conservatives.
