Gaining Independence The Atlantic States of America (ASA), was established on January 10th, 2016 after fighting for independence from the former United States of America. Andrew Blaketon, leader of the Defenders of the Faith, an "old-fashioned" group described by the Washington Times, led a Crusade against the evil and corrupt politicians of Washington D.C. in 2015. The Defenders of the Faith believe in extremist traditionalism with an emphasis on environmentalism, sustainability, and organic food. The organization was founded by Andrew Blaketon in 2008 after the American presidential election. The organization is classified as a religious denomination, it is believed that the organization began in local churches and had a presence on social media. Members of Defenders of the Faith could be seen on college campuses, where its public speakers were met with furious protests.
On January 10th, 2016, days before the American Presidential inauguration, Andrew Blaketon led a coup d'etat against the American government. Large protests began around the country, demanding that Christianity and traditionalism be restored to the people of America. With violent push-back from the American government, these protests resulted in riots and lives lost from the Defenders of the Faith organization. The largest protest was in Washington D.C, resulting in the death of twelve Congressman, and three Senators. President William Hadley, a leftist and known Atheist, declared martial law across the country. Members of the Defenders of the Faith increased attacks and were ordered to round of members of Congress. After large resistance from the American military, the Defenders of the Faith took control of Washington D.C.
Despite the success of their coup d'état, the Defenders of the Faith were unsuccessful in completely eliminating the United States and its administrative structures, who established a government-in-exile in Anchorage, Alaska. The Defenders of the Faith were also unsuccessful in completely taking over the entirety of the continental United States (including Texas, much of Chicago, western portions of California, Florida, Vermont, and other unknown areas) with armed resistance to the regime by the American people and the United States Armed Forces taking root in both the western and southern United States. To keep the deteriorated and mostly destroyed United States and rebels at bay, the Atlantic States of America unleashed nuclear attacks in the American mid-west, killing millions and decimating the area. This war would be known as the Second War for Independence, as the Defenders of the Faith view themselves as saviors of America and American ideology.
