Tribal Era

The First People arrived in the Aegean Sea around 3200BC after the Stone Age had Started, they were mostly tribes of Nomadic-hunter gatherers, and nothing would happen for a Few Thousand years, as these peoples spread through the Aegean Sea would be rather slow compared to other places

These Early People Came From The African Plain, before they moved upward to the Middle East, and spread western into the Turkish Peninsula, and then they would spread upward to Greece, before boats were Used, and People started spreading Into the Aegean Sea, by 18,000 Years ago, Every Island Besides Crete was Home to Humans, Crete would be Colonized about 17,000 Years Ago, Since it was too far away for primitive boats to reach, and newer boats had to be invented.

One tribe known as the Cretans, who were actually located in Crete, we’re able to form one of the first Semi-advanced societies, we’re each person had a job to collect specific items (Berry Gatherer, Fish Gatherer, ETC.), Historians believe a Mysterious Drought caused the people to Collapse, Others believe that a Horrible Tsunami washed them off the face of the earth, but we may never truly know what actually happened

Eventually the discovery of Fishing and Farming is Made, and people start to fish, (One note is that people wore fishing before this Time, but that was more of Grabbing a fish with there hands and running it to a Fire), and form Permanent Residents, the Stone Age had already started, but it would take till about 15,000 Years Ago for the Aegean Sea to Unlock Stone Tools., and eventually some people leave to go to Greece, others stay behind and start forming the first City-States.

These First City-States would quickly rise to power, and most of the tribes left in the Aegean Sea will also go on and Form City-States, others collapsed for unknown Reasons.

First City-States / The Stone Age

After the Stone Age started about 2.6 Million years ago, people continue living in the Aegean for a Long Time, 15,000 Years ago, the Stone Age discovery’s reached the Aegean Sea, and people there would start using Stone Tools.

Eventually about 12,000 Years ago, Farming was Discovered around the World, but this doesn’t really matter in The Aegean Sea, as most land is to Mountainous For Farming, But something that was important, was the Discovery of Fishing, Fishing meant that people could stay in one spot, and wait for food to come to them!

Shortly after the discovery of fishing, The First City-State is made on the Island of Crete, these people were known as the Creteans, on top of the ruins of the Cretans, this City-State would go on to form the United Crete Kingdom, which would play a major role in the Bronze and Iron Age and would go on to Even Form Aegeonia, but that’s in the future, The Crete City-State quickly become powerful, as fishing outpost we’re constructed, and houses were built, they quickly got a population of up to 10,000 And has a advanced society going on, they developed a Monarchy, and all was going well.

Meanwhile up North on the island of Mykonos (Named for the Future capital City that would be there) Another city-state was forming, this city-state grew a population of about 2,000-2,500 People in a few Years, and they made about the same advancements as the Cretes.

On The Western coast of Soon to be Turkey, was the island of Mians, the people here formed a city-state, and had a population of about 5,000 they had Farmable land, and were able to grow powerful, the only downside is they would be quickly conquered by a Nearby Turkish City-State

And in the Middle of the Aegean were the Amur People, these people had a population of 1,000, and mostly lived a Fishing Life, like the rest of the Aegean Sea did, the Amur People we’re doing well on there island names Thira, but one day something horrible happened, Thira Exploded!, as it turned out Thira wasn’t an island, but the top of a Underwater Volcano, This Eruption completely Destroyed the Amur Civilization, and know trace of them has been found anymore on the island, we’re not even totally sure they existed to begin with, we only know about them through Trade Records the Creteans Kept.

Bronze Age

Later in 1000BC After the fall of Miams and the Destruction of the Amur , Bronze was Discovered in the Aegean, during this time Crete and Mykonos grew powerful, and Crete made more cities, while Mykonos started Island Hopping, the Mykonos People also formed a Republic, and had a good economy, Both Nations we’re doing well.

Meanwhile, around the Aegean Sea, many City-States start forming, and most of them go to the Bronze Age very fast, Most City-States unlock Fishing and Farming and soon the Iron Age is will start, well technically it already started in other places.

The Crete City-State at this time had Annexed about Half of the Island of Crete, and was becoming a Regional Superpower, No City-State would dare Challenge it or be Wiped off the Map, The City-State also Discovered Iron first in the Aegean Sea, and the Tools and Knowledge would quickly spread through the Aegean Sea, Starting the Iron Age and Ending The Bronze Age of the Aegean Sea.

Before The Iron Age Started Though, we should take note of a Strong City-State Forming in the North, Historians were not Able to Identify the Name of this City-State though, while they weren’t in the Aegean Sea, they were Situated in the Thessalonika Area, and that Area is in Modern-Day Greece, This city-state had the advantage of having a large area to go on (instead of a small-medium island) and they expanded fast, quickly gaining a Population of 14,000 People (during this Time Crete has a Population of 38,000 and Mykonos had about 32,000 People) The City-State would grow strong, but they will eventually collapse due to the Persian Empire Annexing Them, But right now it’s time to Start the Iron Age.

Iron Age

In 980BC The Iron Age started in the Aegeonian Area, and soon many City-States started Using it (Iron, using Iron) These tools were very useful, as they took a long time to break, and were very Strong and Efficient, some of these tools were strong enough for people to pass along to there Children, and sometimes those children could pass it along as well!

The Cretes used iron very differently, while most made Axes and Fishing Rods, Crete made Swords to Annex more Lands, by the end of this time Crete will have Annexed the Entire Island of Crete, The Iron Age Definitely helped Crete in there expansion and within a few years of the Iron Age starting they had annexed 7/10 Of the Crete Island, but they didn’t use iron just for Swords and Armor, they were able to make Iron Fishing Rods, that were much stiffer than a Wooden Fishing Rod, and didn’t break as easily, they made Iron Axes as Well which were very strong at cutting Trees, and pickaxes so they could get more Iron in the Mines, Iron Started Becoming so Common in Crete, that it became the National Currency And was Used for Citizens to Pay There Taxes.

Back up north in The New City-State They we’re also Using Iron as Well, and they Quickly Expanded and took over the Area surrounding Soon To Be-Thessalonika, They names there Main City Thessaloniki and this city would go on to survive to the Modern Day and Form one of the Most Populated City’s in Greece, The City-State or Thessalonika (which we will refer to from this point on) was doing good and became a Regional Superpower.

Back In Mykonos all was going good, the Economy was Booming with all the news resources coming in from the Iron Tools, and more and more births became successful as Medical Technology slowly Progressed, all was going well in the City Until The Greek City-States Showed Up.

Greek Annexation Age

During the Iron Age (around the 2nd Half of it) bad stuff was coming for The Aegean, The Greek City-States we’re expanding fast, and They Started Looking to the Aegean Sea to Expand, Athens was the first to come, but they used something most people wouldn’t, Diplomacy, using Diplomacy and Treaties they were able to Expand Into The Aegean Sea, and we’re able to Border the Mykonos City-State

Meanwhile More South, Sparta did what Sparta did Best, They Annexed, They quickly started launching Naval Attacks and pushed deep into the Aegean Sea, they were able to Reach Crete, But since the Cretes has been able to Annex Large Lands (and now owned all of Crete) they had a strong army waiting there, plus there navy almost prevented anyone from getting into there country, while Sparta tried hard, they eventually decided to just go around Crete and come back another time when they had a stronger army, While we’re talking about Crete, we should note that they got the idea to also start colonizing the Aegean Sea, and mostly invaded the Southern Part of it Near Turkey.

Other Smaller Greek City-States also started invading the Aegean Sea, but most of them are Un-Important and don’t deserve more than a Short Paragraph.

The City-State of Mykonos also Started to be invaded in the South By Sparta and Athens started also invading to the North, Mykonos was surrounded and quickly Destroyed, the Nation was Annexed and Sparta took the South, And Athens took the North With Mykonos Destroyed, most nations felt like that they wouldn’t be able to defend themselves and they quickly surrendered to other Greek City-States.

Meanwhile in The City-State of Thessaloniki, they decided to invade the Northern Aegean Sea in order to gain some land, and that went very successfully, they annexed some weaker city’s, and imported the resources back to the capital to make the city bigger and better. The Turkish, Seeing that The Aegean was Falling, decided to invade the Eastern Islands of the City’s

By 490BC, Most of the Aegean Sea was Annexed, and most people thought that all hope was lost, and that was true, but then someone else showed up. The Persians Showed Up.

Persian Age

About 1,500 Years Ago, the Persian Empire invaded Greece, Battles waged and a long war was fought, but in the End Greece lost and Persia annexed them.

Two States were Made, The Greek Republic State (consisting of Mainland Greece) and the Aegeanonian Republic State, this was important as it’s the first time the name Aegeonia is officially mentioned in History, The Aegeonian Republic consisted of most of the Aegean Sea expect for Crete (which had become a puppet state of Persia, since both of them were tired of Persia launching failing naval invasions) the Republic was rather Small compared to other Persian States, and rights were very small, a Theocracy was Set up later and Islam was Worshipped, Later Persia had a Big war with Macedonian And Egyptian Rebellions, and Aegeonia sent in Military Aid (as it was under Persia’s control and had to send aid)

Eventually a Aegeonian Rebellion Starts, and Aegeonia works with Greece and Macedonia in a Civil War Against Persia But The Rebellion Failed Horribly, and Aegeonia continued to be a State of Persia.

More And More people in Aegeonia started Worshipping Islam, and The Aegeonian Economy Started Doing Well, Trade Went up incredibly High, and civil rights rose high, everything was going great in the Aegeonian State

Some people decided that it was better this way, and wanted to stay in Persia instead of Leaving it, but most Aegeonians wanted to leave, they wanted to preserve there unique culture that was being brainwashed with Islam and Greek Gods

A New Revolution started, and this time it was just Aegeonia, they didn’t want independence, they wanted to make the people of Persia question how strong there Army Was and if it could actually defend them, and that’s what they did For about 56 Years, Aegeonia held off the Massive Persian Army, They used there advanced Knowledge of the Sea, and had constructed a Strong Navy.

Eventually Aegeonia is Given Independence (Along with Greece and Macedonia), after that a Butterfly effect would happen, causing the entire Persian empire to collapse.

Aegeonia was happy with there new independence, and they started trading with place like Egypt, Italy, and even went as far as trading with the Spanish! But then, Macedonia grew hungry for power…

The Age of Alexander / The Macedonian Age

It was 336BC, Alexander the Great was becoming a Great Military General, and decided to Expand Macedonia, He First Invaded Greece, after Persia Collapses Greece had been redivided into City-States, which made it easy for Macedonia to Attack, they quickly took over Greece, with there eyes now on the east, or more specifically the Aegean Sea, they knew that Aegeonia would be able to defend unlike the Greeks, since Aegeonia had a strong navy, Macedonia didn’t have much of a Navy, since they spent most of there history away from the coast, and didn’t spend much time building warships for defense, They also had another thorn in there side, Thessaloniki, You see after the Persian empire fell, Thessaloniki was Releases as a Independent City-State, And Thessaloniki had one thing Macedonia Needed, Strategic Placement, Thessaloniki was on a River that went deep into the balkans, and was where most of Macedonia’s water came from, Besides this, they were near a chain of islands, which meant boats would be able to move fast into the Aegean, Macedonia Needed Thessaloniki, but Thessaloniki had Thousands of Years to build there army, and they did so, allowing them to be defended against Macedonia, Macedonia need resources.

So they decided to Invade the Turkish City-States which many nations knew was home to vast resources, and they started “Borrowing”, a lot of Naval Ships, by the end of there conquest of Western Turkey, They has developed a Navy of About 10,000 Ships, they quickly spread the ships throughout the Aegean Coast, and launched them all at once, while the Naval Invasion Ensued, they mined and mined turkey for iron and resources, They built a strong Army, and we’re able to take over Thessaloniki, Macedonia Quickly sent there new navy throughout Ageonia, and pushed them to Crete in a Matter of Days, after that, Aegeonia Surrendered to the Macedonians, Alexander quickly made the “New State of The Aegean Sea” and after that They Moved fast, and went out all the way to India.

After Alexander’s Conquest of Aegeonia, the state made leaps in progress, both economically and in Population, there population rose to about 124,000 People (before this there population was around 46,000, so there population almost Tripled!) and there economy grew great, they started trading with the Islam in Northern Africa, and they traded with Rome, Spain, and even the Egyptians, Things we’re going well and good, and people started liking being part of the Macedonian Empire, and New Inventions were made, Faster And Stronger Boats we’re made, and everyone seemed to like Alexander, Elections we’re held for people to elect Senators, and the Macedonian Culture started mixing with The Aegeonian.

Eventually in 323BC, 13 Years After Macedonia Invaded, Alexander The Great died while do a campaign in India, Many people were sad about his death, but many more were happy that Aegeonia would be Given Independence from the Macedonians!

The Trade Age

After Macedonia Fell, the Empire war dived in 3, The Selucuedian Empire, who owned India, Persia, and some of the Middle East, The Ptolemaic Empire, which owned most of Egypt and The Middle East, and last but not least, the Antigoniod Empire, which owned Turkey and Greece, Aegeonia wasn’t given Independence, it was given to the Antigoniod Empire, The Antigoniod were a Fairly Good People, and Aegeonia was more of a Puppet State of them, as they were allowed to pretty much do whatever, but the Antigoniod would always be closely watching there back.

Aegeonia Made “The Antigoniodian Theocracy of Aegeonia”, as they made a Theocracy that worshipped the Greek, Turkish, And Macedonian Gods, The Religion was Very Complex, And most people had to make a daily Donation to the Gods, most people just have them extra fish they had caught that day, others gave them there Iron Coins, while some even gave them There Blood, Sacred Sacrifices we’re fairly common, as Criminials would either go to Jail for Life, or do the More Dignified thing and Sacrifice Them Self.

Aegeonia Started Trading with the Ptolemaic Empire, and they also traded with the Islam, And started trading throughout the Mediterranean, Some Ships even went out into the Atlantic Ocean, and would trade with Britannic, French Tribes and sometimes even the Vikings, They also would use the Black Sea to trade with the Mongol Empire, and overall Aegeonia pretty much Traded with whoever felt like Trading, The City Of Mykonos Became known as “The City of Trade” and soon many markets and shops were set up there, by people selling there good, people started coming all the way from other countries just to trade in Aegeonia, Aegeonia Joined The Silk Road, which went all the way to China, and people started making Mykonos the Beginning of the Silk Road, Trade Records started being written, and before long, Aegeonia started using Turkish and Greek to write down there information, while most people spoke Primarily Greek, others started speaking a little of Turkish Language.

The Roman Age

Before long it was 509BC and The Aegeonians were trading more and more, and before long they started trading with the Roman Republic, which has just recently formed, they saw that the Republic quickly expanded throughout Italy, and that it was coming towards the Aegean Sea Fast, so they continue trading with it to try and make it stop from invading them, eventually Rome was on the Antigoniodians Doorstep, and before long, it was 142BC, and War Had Started.

The Antigoniods were no match for Rome, and before long, The Roman Empire had Completely Annexed Aegeonia, The “Greek Province” was soon made, and this province encompassed Greece and Aegeonia, the Romans Started sharing the Religion and Culture in Aegeonia, and before long most people there knew the Roman Language, the Roman’s also started to Spread the Religion, and before long, people were renaming there old gods into Roman, Zeus Became Jupiter, Poseidon became Neptune, and so on so forth.

Before long, Rome was asking the Aegeonians to send in there navy to help them attack and annex the Egyptian Kingdom, While Aegeonia did Not want to attack one of their biggest trade partners, they sent them in anyway, Speaking of trade, the Roman knew that Aegeonia was trading all around the known world, so they quickly made Aegeonia the “Roman Trade Company” which was situated in Aegeonia, and focused on trading with nations around the world.

Eventually In the year 0 (this years marks when Jesus was born, and the beginning of the Calendar we use today) Rome had to go deal with North African Rebellions, and Aegeonia had to help them with these Conquests, they did so successfully and all went well.

The R.T.C. (Roman Trading Company) started making trying to make itself useful, and Aegeonia started to become a little less useful, you see, since Aegeonia was Surrounded by Rome, they didn’t really have anyone to go and trade with, and soon Aegeonia had less and less trade.
