North Ottonia enjoys a vibrant sporting culture, oriented around a large number of sporting activities. By economic impact, the North Ottonian sporting culture is dominated by what are often referred to as the "Big Three Leagues", team sport leagues that reliably draw sell-out crowds and result in some of the single highest salaries among any persons in the country.

Team Sports

Gridiron Football

Arguably the single most-popular sport in North Ottonia is gridiron football. The highest level of professional play in North Ottonia is the Ottonian Gridiron Super League, which is fed by the three regional leagues: the Jormundean Gridiron League, the Eastern Gridiron League, and the Boreian Coastal League. The gridiron season in North Ottonia runs from late September to December.

Since the 1998 detenté with South Ottonia, an annual gridiron series was arranged between the two Ottonian states, starting in 2000, with the host alternating annually. North Ottonia currently leads the series, 14-8.
