Jim Caldwell (born June 9, 1996) is an American political activist. He is running for U.S. House of representatives for California's 12th Congressional District, having received the plurality of votes in the June 7 primary.
Early life and education
Caldwell was born on June 9, 1996 in San Francisco, California to Henry and Anne (nee Murphy) Caldwell. He graduated Lowell High School in 2013. Caldwell enrolled at [SCHOOL] where he earned a Master's Degree in [FIELD] in 2018.
Career
In 2015 Caldwell took part in a summer internship program in Congressman's Joe U. R. Mama Washington office. Following his internship he gained employment in Mama's district office in San Francisco where he worked until 2021.
Political activism
Caldwell is a political organizer and activist having volunteered for food banks and drug therapy charities. He has spoken out on a number of issues relating to San Francisco and organized a petition aimed at providing housing to homeless citizens and ending overpolicing in homeless camps.
U.S. House of Representatives
Following Congressman Mama's announcement of retirement at the end of the 117th Congress, Caldwell announced his candidacy for California's 12th congressional district in June 2021. He received the endorsement of the congressman in January 2022.
