The SRW-1 Sperrfeuer (See-Raketenwerfer-1 Sperrfeuer, Seaborne-rocket launcher-1 Barrage) is an Atlantian ship-based multiple launch rocket system developed by Europäische Verteidigungsgruppey (EVG, English: European Defence Group). It was developed as close-range weapon for use against smaller warships and submarines, similar in concept to anti-submarine mortars in WW2. In addition to being a sea-based weapon, a land-based version was developed in 2001 for use as a MLRS emplacement.

Projectiles

The SRW-1 is able to fire out a variety of projectiles, including depth charges, anti-submarine rockets and guided missiles.

  • RSP-5C - (Raketen-System-Projektil-5C) was the first operational rocket in use with the RSW-1. It was unguided and had a range of 5.8 km and was discontinued in 2005.
  • RSP-5U URSP - (Unterwasser-Raketen-System-Projektil) was the anti-submarine rocket, used in tandem with the RSC-5C. It had a range underwater of 5.2 km and discontinued in 2012.
  • RSP-5D - An upgraded version of the RSP-5C which included a more efficient rocket motor that extended the range up to 6.5 km. It was first used in 2003 and while officially discontinued in 2009, there are still stockpiles of the rockets in use.
  • RSP-6 - A completely redesigned rocket design that replaced the RSP-5s in use. It featured passive guidance systems that relied on an infrared targeting sensor or wire that guided the rocket on target. The design was in use by 2006 and discontinued in 2013. It had a range of 7.3 km
  • RSP-7 TFS - (Terminalführungssystem) The current iteration of the RSP in use with the SRW-1. Introduced in 2013, it utilised both passive and active guidance in the form of terminal targeting sensors on the rockets. It improved accuracy and also featured an improved rocket motor along with better aerodynamic design, increasing range to 10 km.
  • RSP-7 TFSURSP - (Terminalführungssystem,Unterwasser-Raketen-System-Projektil) The current underwater anti-submarine rocket in use. It was introduced with the RSP-7 and features the same terminal guidance system as the RSP-7 TFS, with active sonar to seek out submarines. It has a range of 9.2 km.
