The 1946 Pancevo Ultimatum (Sb: 1946 Панчево ультиматум) was a military coup d'etat which resulted in the final collapse of royal power in Sebrenskiya.
Background
Sebrenskiya emerged from the Pan-Septentrion War victorious over the Casaterran Axis, annexing Northern Saintonge and now in total control over the waterways which historically made Sebrenskiya's and Ostland's borders. However, numerous attempts to incorporate the new territories by parliament were repeatedly declined by King Vinicus VII, each time over minor spelling errors in parliamentary proceedings. Parliament filed multiple protests, stating that parliamentary proceedings were not legally binding documents and should not be considered with the actual resolutions.
The 1946 Annexation of Saintonge Resolution was declined twice, the second time receiving the response "I will not sign a law until a new parliament is formed"
On June 9th, 1946, the Sebrenskiyan National Congress demanded the king abdicate.
Coup D'Etat
At 6:43a.m. Pancevo Federal Time, a small contingent of the 7th infantry division entered the Pancevo Palace. A singular member of the Royal Guard stopped them, and, the infantry fearing that their operation had been compromised, was assaulted.
At exactly 8:23a.m., the King was suddenly taken to his room and taken to a window of the palace. From there, he was told that they could storm the palace and kill everyone inside, including his children and wife. At least four T-44s had their guns pointed at the window the King was looking through.
Reportedly the king requested Vihoslavian coffee, and sat, silently, staring out of the window for over three hours. The military laid prepared to forcefully take the palace at 1:00p.m., but the King abdicated at 12:02, ending the siege of the palace.
The King, having 'voluntarily' abdicated, was allowed to remain in the Royal Palace until the end of his life, to which his family would then be removed to a manor in Kyustendil.
Aftermath
Borislav Parakuvic was named the President of the Republic of Sebrenskiya, and given permissions to handpick his successor. This lead to the 1947 Republican Constitution, and made Sebrenskiya a Unitary republic.
