Early life
The Hon. Alexander Alasdair Gordon Strickland was born on November 30, 1999, in Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland. He was the first of his parents' six children, and was soon followed after by his siblings Christabel, Andrew, James, Iona, and Duncan. He is known to his family and friends as "Alick."
When his grandfather, Henry Strickland, 4th Earl of Ardfern, died in 2006, Alexander gained the courtesy title Viscount Strickland as the new heir apparent to the Earldom of Ardfern.
Alexander was educated at Fettes College before going on to the University of Glasgow to study Accounting.
Marriage and children
It was whilst at university that he met Princess Amélie of Autelia, who was also studying in the city, as part of a foreign exchange. The couple confirmed they were dating in a statement issued on October 15, 2019.
Following two years of dating, the engagement of Lord Strickland and Princess Amélie was announced on September 13, 2021. They were married in a ceremony in the National Cathedral, Santerre, on December 26, 2021.
Following their wedding, Alexander and Amélie embarked on a honeymoon tour of Scotland and Scandinavia, spending time in several cities.
On July 13, 2022, the Palace announced that Lord Strickland and Princess Amélie were expecting a child, due to be born in Winter 2022. In anticipation of the birth, Queen Marie-Agathe granted Alexander with new titles. From December 1, 2022, his titles have been "His Royal Highness Prince Alexander of Autelia, Duke of Pavia." He also retains his courtesy titles as his father's heir and future Earl of Ardfern.
