The Democratic Party is one of two major political parties in Arabi, the other one being the Republican Party.
The Democratic Party was founded in 2014 with the intention of merging with the Liberal Socialist Party in hopes to broaden membership amongst liberals whose idelogies weren't completly aligned with the Liberal Socialist Party. Democrats believe in democratic socialism with an social market economy. They believe in letting private business to operate but with some government regulations to prevent corruption, specifically bribery, embezzelment, and tax fraud.
The current President and Vice President is Robert Stephens and Chelsea Pickering respectively, both are members of the Democratic Party.

Social issues and policies
Democrats are in favor of many social policies to help reduce poverty, especially food assisstance programs, public housing, curbing homelessness, free education, free healthcare, and energy assisstance programs. For many years liberals in Arabi have been trying to implement a universal healthcare program but ultimately have been unable to agree fully on how to make it work. Many Democrats are in favor of a univeral basic income for citizens making less than $30,000 a year. They are also in favor of making education tutiton free but have been successful in lowering tutions for private institutions. Democrats are in favor of raising taxes on citizens that make $150,000 or more a year. A carbon tax has been growing in popularity within the party to curb climate change.
