Tally Island is an island located in between the Guanahacabibes Peninsula and the city of Cancún, Mexico. Tally island was discovered by tourists on a cruise to Mexico. Their ship was completely destroyed by the roaring waves and the remnants of their ship washed up on the shore of Tally Island. They then founded their own micronation with a functioning government, a stable population, and defined territorial claims. Today, Tally Island remains a territory of Cuba with no official status as a sovereign state.
