The 2022 Workers' Party leadership election was held from 17 December to 31 December following the resignation of Workers' Party President Jean Monpremier. Monpremier cited old age and health concerns as reasons for his resignation.

Before Monpremier's resignation became effective on the 17th of December, the rest of the party leadership would determine the timeframe for a leadership election to replace him. Nominations would open on December 16th, and would close on the 18th. At the end of this period, the two with the most nominations, and therefore the ones made candidates, were Paul Gustave and Denise Guillaume

In the final election on 31 December, Guillaume would emerge victorious, having won 50% of the vote from party members. Gustave would earn 46% and the remaining 4% went to various write-ins. Guillame was officially made President on 3 January, becoming the first female President in Workers' Party history.

Background

The Workers' Party had been led by Jean Monpremier since 2009, when he became President after the retirement of André Louisette-Noel, who had served as party President since 1998 and as President of Île d'Émeraude since 2001. He had become rather advanced in age, becoming the oldest President the party had ever had after he turned 74 in 2021. A health scare in January 2022 led to speculation of his impending resignation.

Monpremier would officially announce his resignation on 13 December, 2022, citing old age and health concerns as primary reasons. Almost immediately the Workers' Party began to organize an election to fill his position.
