Baydad XVIII, King of Ardistan (Baydad Arvand Mithridates Hydarnisdes; b. 15 July 1958) is the current King of Ardistan, a constituent state within the Mesogeian empire. He was not expected to succeed to the throne of Ardistan but eventually political intrigue and external forces resulted in Arvand and his son Baydad being placed in the immediate succession of the Ardistanid throne.

Biography

Early life

Baydad was born on the 15th July 1958 to Prince Arvand of Ardistan, and his wife Princess PLACEHOLDER. At the time of his birth he was not expected to become King of Ardistan as his uncle the late King Sames III was the then reigning king of the kingdom and had three sons immediately ahead of Baydad and his father Arvand.

This all changed following the failed palace coup of 1958 to place Emperor Constantine XXII's illegitimate son the Prince Alexius on the imperial throne in the place of the emperor's eldest legitimate child, the then Princess of the Upper Satrapies. Many members of the upper nobility were implicated in the plot including the Imperial Consort Theophano, the King of Ardistan, and a Prince of the ruling house of Kappadokia, among others

This revelation resulted in the Emperor stripping the Ardistanid crown from Sames III and his sons who were thrown in the dreaded Skyla ("Tower of the Dogs") of the Alexandropolis were the nation's most notorious prisoners had been housed for centuries. King Sames and his sons languished in the Skyla for months until finally a special bill was passed within the Synedrion, that had the full backing of the Council of Kings that allowed for a charge of treason to be brought against King Sames and his sons and all others who had sought to circumvent the lawful succession of the Grand Princess Elena.

King Sames of Ardistan and his sons were beheaded on 15 March 1959 for the act of treason, but out of respect for their royal birth and former station they were given the honor of a private execution.

While the late King Sames and his sons were being hold in the Skyla there was a fear amongst the ruling dynasty of Ardistan that the kindom's monarchy would be abolished and absorbed into the imperial crown, but eventually however Baydad's father Arvand was allowed to succeed.
