Stórþing
The Stórþing is the unicameral national legislature of Hverland. Comprising of representatives from across the nation, the Stórþing is responsible for crafting and passing legislation, as well as overseeing the actions of the executive branch.
Structure and membership
The Stórþing is composed of 100 members known as Þingmenn (Thingmen), elected through proportional representation from each of Hverland's 12 constituencies. The members serve a four-year term and can be re-elected for consecutive terms.
Roles and responsibilities
The Stórþing is the legislative body of Hverland, responsible for making national laws, approving the national budget, and ratifying treaties. It also holds the power to declare war and approve the deployment of Hverland's armed forces abroad. One of its essential functions is to elect the Superintendent of State from among its members.
The Stórþing also plays a crucial role in overseeing the executive branch of government, the National Offices. This oversight includes the power to question government officials and propose votes of no confidence.
