The Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation is a logistics company based in the United Kingdom of Malgrave. It provides small-scale logistical support to deliver goods that cannot be delivered via intercity or local freight rail within Malgrave and since 2000 has also operated services outside of the country..
History
Formed in 1910, the Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation was founded as a state-run company to supply goods over the country in conjunction with the national railway service. It operated a number of electric-powered commercial vehicles in cooperation with MalTra and helped pioneer several advancements in trucks which were picked up by the military and used to assist military operations against slaver holdouts that were present on the Malgravean mainland at that time.
During the Great Exodus, the Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation was used extensively to support the evacuation of the country and was involved in the evacuation of several important relics of the Ancestral Study Group. It came at a steep cost, as Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation lost a majority of their vehicles and effectively had to start from scratch after the successful re-establishment of the country in 1933.
Between 1933 and 1975 the Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation cooperated heavily with MalTra to develop a strong logistical network in the country, however, this cooperation was temporarily paused when Prime Minister Adalbert Kaczmarek announced that the Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation would be privatised.
Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation was initially sold to a group of investors from Aurora, however, due to pressure from the Most Illustrious Glorious Confederation of Proud Malgravean Proletarians (MIGCPMP) it quickly fell into financial difficulties. In 1977 it was taken over by the Social Solidarity Investment Fund (SSIF).
After this action, the Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation entered a period of economic recovery which was further bolstered by expansions into new territory following the end of the Malgravean Civil War. Like many companies in Malgrave, the Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation suffered greatly during the Lost Decade and nearly collapsed several times.
Since 2000, the Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation has started to expand operations overseas and now has a few offices abroad in other Mystrian nations, although, the company voluntarily transferred their assets to a workers collective in Sorrelia following the outcome of the revolution in that country.
Nationalisation Question
Nationalisation of the Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation has been proposed several times since the company was privatised, with the first suggestion coming in 1983, however, it is a policy proposition that has not been enacted.
In 2018 the ascension of Nadzieja Brzezicki to the role of Prime Minister resulted in renewed conversations around the question of renationalisation, with many left-wing members of the PUP recommending that the Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation be absorbed into MalPost or turned into a subsidiary of the postal company, however, due to pressure from the trade union movement it is reported that these discussions ended in favour of the status quo.
In 2022, the Royal Malgravean Times reported that conversations were underway between the government and the Most Illustrious Glorious Confederation of Proud Malgravean Proletarians (MIGCPMP) to discuss the possible nationalisation of the Malgravean Road Haulage Corporation and it's reorganisation under a new parent company directed by MalPost and MalTra.
