The Armed Forces of Æthele (Æthic: Lindwered), are the armed forces of the Kingdom of Æthele. The Armed Forces are composed of three branches: the Æthic Army (Here), the Æthic Navy (Bathere) and the Æthic Air Corps (Geþyllhere). The Armed Forces are a solely professional, volunteer force since the abolishment of conscription in 1901. The Armed Forces' commander-in-chief is the King of the Æthics, though effective control is exercised through his appointed Chief of Staff. The current total number of active military personnel is 21,412 and personnel in reserve is 34,132.
