The Hunhao-class is a diesel electric attack submarine in service with the Royal Mutulese Navy. It was developed as a successor of its predecessor, the TR-1700-class submarine. Compared with its predecessor, it is considerably more compact and better optimised for shallow water and littoral operations. However, by virtue of its fuel-cell based air-independent propulsion capability, supported by cutting-edge lithium-ion battery technology from Sante Reze, it is capable of remaining submerged for longer periods of time in open-ocean operations. The design also features considerably improved anti-surface firepower, with ten vertical-launched P-800 Oniks missiles imported from Velikoslavia. It is envisaged that the Hunhao would completely replace its predecessor by 2024.
