Route description
SH 189 is a largely rural two lane highway primarily serving agricultural areas northwest of Sparta, and the recreational areas of Lake Mynatt's north shore. The stretch from Sparta to the Lake Mynatt community is a completely straight roadway lined with crop fields on either side. From Knox Bayou north, the roadway winds its way through densly forested lands, serving limited logging operations and the rental home communities and recreational areas of Lake Mynatt.
