The Escharian Armed Forces (EAF), also known as the Irastli Arus, are the military forces of the Empire of Escharia. They are responsible for the defense of the nation's territory, people and interests both within and beyond its borders. The armed forces comprise the Escharian Army, the Royal Escharian Navy, the Royal Escharian Air Force, and the Escharian Strategic Command.

The armed forces of Escharia are under the control of the National Defense Department, which is led by the Federal Minister of National Defense. The armed forces are subject to the Civilian Control of the Military principle, which ensures that the executive branch of the federal government is responsible for the armed forces and that, ultimately, decisions on their use and employment are made by civilian leaders appointed by the president of the Federal Republic and confirmed by the Parliament.

History

The Escharian Armed Forces were established in 1720 as the Army of the Istastioner Federation, a country that was established as the successor to the Istastioner Empire, which itself had risen to power over the centuries as the result of centuries of warfare, conquest, and expansion on the Istastioner continent. The Army of the Istastioner Federation saw action in various conflicts throughout the second half of the 20th century, including the Istastioner civil war and the Great Istastioner War.

In August 1902, the Army of the Istastioner Federation was reformed into the Escharian Armed Forces. Under the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense, the Armed Forces have continued to serve as a force for stability in the region, protecting the people and interests of Escharia and its allies. Since 1989, the Escharian Armed Forces have been involved in various conflict and peacekeeping operations around the world, including Battle of Urnu-Arrak, the 1968 Escharian Civil War, 1973 First Coalition War and 1980 Final Turtlonian War

Personnel

The personnel of the Escharian Armed Forces comprise active and reserve personnel from all branches of the army, navy, air force and Strategic Command. The total number of personnel in the armed forces depends on the current demands of national security and the available resources at any given time. However, overall, the armed forces maintain a ratio of around 60% regulars and 40% reservists. Additionally, the Escharian Armed Forces maintain a strong tradition of recruitment from both within and beyond its borders. The army, navy and air force recruit from the populations of the member nations of the Escharian Empire while the Strategic Command has more diverse recruitment practices as it is tasked with ensuring security on a global scale.

To ensure the quality of personnel, the armed forces maintain a rigorous personnel evaluation, training and promotion system. Personnel are regularly assessed and evaluated based on their skills, abilities, experience and personal qualities. This ensures that they are appropriately trained and prepared for their respective positions within the armed forces.
