Tormit, officially the Republic of Tormit, is a nation in northeastern America. It is bordered by Silaq to the west and Greenlan to the north. It has a coast with the Atlantic Ocean to the south and the Greenlan Sea to the east.

Tormit is ranked high for civil liberties and political freedom, and moderately high for HRC-FS human rights. Tormit has maintained very steady ratings for all three and has had a fairly uneventful history. Tormit has been invited to join the Human Rights Coalition in the past, but has rejected citing restrictive requirements for members.

Tormit has a fairly average and stable economy based on mining and aquaculture. Tormit also frequently participates in aquatic reincarnation research and projects and has successfully reincarnated several species of sturgeon fish. In the future, roe from these fish in the gulfs and lakes of Tormit will be used to produce the first caviar since the 2100s.

Etymology

Tormit is a shortened version of its capital, Ittoqqortoormiit. The capital was and still is the largest settlement in the area. It means "big-house dwellers" in old East Greenlandic.
