The Free City of Bayaw (Bayawnese: ᜄᜏᜐ᜔ᜈᜓᜈ᜔ ᜅ ᜊᜌᜈ᜔ ᜈᜒᜅ᜔ ᜊᜌᜏ᜔; Gawasnon nga Bayan ning Bayaw), commonly known as simply Bayaw (Bayawnese: ᜊᜌᜏ᜔; Bayaw), is an island city-state in ???. Located in ???, Bayaw shares maritime borders with ??? to the south and east while a causeway connects Bayaw with ??? to the mainland in the north. The city-state is home to 7.1 million people, 14% of whom are foreign nationals, including permanent residents. The population is packed into a land area of only 914 km2 (353 sq mi), making it the ?th most densely populated sovereign states in the world.

In antiquity, the Lakanate of Bayaw was a major trade hub and was known for its extensive trade networks across the ??? region, establishing trading relationships with the ancient civilizations of ???, ??? and ???. A seafaring people, Bayawnese balangay ships ferried cargo around the region which made Bayaw a significant entrepôt of regional maritime trade.

Bayaw is a unitary absolute monarchy, with Lakan Gat Humamay as head of state. The lakan is the monarch of the Free City and wields near absolute political power. The rule of the Lakan is assisted by the Pangulunglima, a position appointed by the lakan with a role similar to that of the western concept of a prime minister.

The city-state's Bayaw Rapid Transit System is one of the most extensive rapid transit and urban rail transit systems in the world. The system spans across the majority of the city-state and has grown rapidly with government plans to develop a comprehensive rail network which has allowed it to become the backbone of public transport in Bayaw. In contrast to the overnight shutdown of most cities, the Bayaw Rapid Transit System operates 24 hours a day— albeit with longer intervals between trains during nighttime.

The three lines of the Bayaw Rapid Transit System collectively make up one of the longest fully automated metro networks in the world. The Kinara and Nayaku lines are operated by the BayLink Transport Holdings Company, while the Bilog and Airport Express lines are operated by Bayaw Rapid Transit Railway Corporation. Together, these two companies operate the majority of busses, trains, and taxis in the city which facilitates for the full integration of all modes of transport in the country.

In addition to internal mass rapid transit systems, Bayaw city is also the terminus of the major international high-speed rail line connecting the mainland Monic countries on a single rail line, which has helped to build up Bayaw as a major regional and international transport hub through its easy access as the terminus of a major international rail system.
