The EFC Nations League is an annual international football competition played by the senior men's national teams of the member associations of EFC, the sport's Euronian governing body. The first tournament was held in 1997.
Format
According to the approved format, the 48 EFC national teams are divided into three divisions (called "federation"): 16 teams in the East (EEFF), 16 teams in the Central (CEFF), and 16 teams in the West (WEFF). In each federation, four groups of four are formed and teams played each other both home and away.
Season
Each season of the EFC Nations League is played in a typical EFC competition season format: the league phase (or "group stage") in the first half of the season from June to September, and the knockout phase in the second half of the season in October (quarter finals of League A) and November (semifinals and finals of League A) respectively, meaning a EFC Nations League champion is crowned every year.
Finals
At the end of the regular season, the top two teams in each of the three associations go on to play in the Nations League Finals, with the top teams overall granted a bye. This is a sudden-death tournament, with two semi-finals, one third and fourth-place decider, and one final to decide which team becomes the EFC Nations League champion.
