Description
Designed during the heavy fighting of the FedCom Civil War, the 2A7 variant prioritized a combination of long-range firepower alongside surprising speed for an Assault Mech. Three extended-range Sunstreak Model A particle projector cannons (PPCs) provide the pilot with withering destructive capabilities, while a pair of Moonfire heavy medium lasers serve as a potent back-up weapon against enemies that venture too close. A targeting computer inside the cockpit allows for enhanced accuracy at stand-off ranges, to make the most of any first strike. Despite featuring twenty seven heat sinks derived from clan technology, the massive build-up of heat can easily overwhelm an unprepared Mechwarrior.
Eleven and a half tons of ferro-fiberous armour (equivalent to nearly fourteen tons of standard armour) provide more than adequate protection against most threats, while the 375-rated Kalaronian Mech Laboratories fusion engine provides it with an average speed of 76.3 kilometers per hour, fast enough to keep pace with the majority of Battlemechs that could threaten it, and more than fast enough to make most light Battlemechs think twice about attempting ambush and retreat tactics. Further, while the extra-light components do reduce the durability of the design, the redundancies provided by their clan technological base does offset this weakness.
