Xiuhtec is the 2nd and largest terrestrial planet in the Reo system. It is known for its geological active surface and extreme weather. Due to a combination of tidal heating, radioactive decay and solar heating, Xiuhtec is rocked by extreme volcanism and massive earthquakes that constantly changes the surface.
Physical characteristics
Xiuhtec is one of the two terrestrial planets in the Reo system. The radius of Xiuhtec is 7,916 miles which two times that of Earth’s. The climate on Xiuhtec is hot, dry and wet, with surface dew points reaching 119°F in some areas and violent steamy rainstorms are common. The thick atmosphere also means the surface pressure is high with a pressure of 2.1 bars. However since the planet has a long rotation period of 1.4 earth years, the region around the sub-solar point is extremely hot and dry with temperatures reaching 201°F. Violent winds radiate from this point around the planet causing the temperature to be relatively the same globally.
Geology
The most influential geological force on Xiuhtec is volcanism. Tidal heating caused by tidal forces from Reo and the nearby gas giant of Raipo and the radioactive decay of isotopes such as uranium, thorium and potassium heats up the planetary interior and drives the extreme volcanic activity. There are over 1,500 active volcanoes on Xiuhtec, most of them are effusive shield volcanoes but a few volcanoes are explosive calderas.
