Giải Khắc Tuấn, CCQ (25 February 1968) is a noted Quenminese sofware engineer who is the creator and incumbent lead developer of the Tuanix kernel, which is utilized by Tuanix distributions and other operating systems such as Acrea's not!Android. His other creations include the distributed version control software Estuary and the bioinformatics database PromeDB.
In 1998, Tuấn was recognized as a top 100 Quenminese technological innovators by the KIT Technology Catalog. Tuấn was then awarded the Technology Prize in 2001 by the Royal and Imperial Institute of Science and Technology in recognition of Tuanix and its widespread use and impact in the computer science and engineering. In 2018, Tuấn was knighted Commander of the Order of the Crown of Quenmin for his contributions to the aforementioned field.
Early life
Tuấn was born on 25 February 1968 to doctor Giải Ngọc Khôi and nurse Phùng Nguyên Thảo. His grandfather was Giải Nhật Quân, who served on the heavy cruiser IQV Dầu Tiếng during the Siduri War.
Tuấn's interest in software and computers sparked when he discovered a VIC-20 at the age of 11, which his father bought for him. On his free time, he wrote programs on it, and subsequently accessed its CPU with machine code. Later, at the age of 14, he purchased another personal computer and modified its operating system and other aspects. He went on to write his own assembler and editor for the same computer, and a few games.
Tuấn attended Haigia University and graduated with a bachelor's in computer science in 1990. He then obtained his master's degree from the Kontin Institute of Technology in 1994. In 1989, while obtaining the former, he purchased a clone of the NCM PC and a textbook on operating systems that described a microkernel-oriented operating system, which both inspired him to begin work on Tuanix, and produce his master’s thesis describing his operating system in full detail.
Career
Software engineering
After graduating from Haigia University, he worked for Taumicron from 1990 to 1992. He was employed by Polemor from early 1997 to 2005 after accepting a position from them. It was offered by the company in recognition of his project.
Tuanix
Tuấn released the first prototype of Tuanix in mid-1992, and Version 1.0 in later 1995. The latter version was first released under a non-commercial license, but after listening to a speech from an Acrean free software advocate, Tuấn switched to implementing a free and open-source license for it.
After retiring from Polemor, Tuấn moved on to work with the Open Source Software Development Organization, which later became the Tuanix Foundation. The organization continues to employ Tuấn full-time to enable him to continuously improve the Tuanix kernel.
In 1999, Green Gourd presented Tuấn with stock options as a gratitude token for his creation. After the company went public, his share value briefly increased to approximately Ѧ30 million.
The kernel’s mascot is a peacock named Fabulo.
Estuary
On 28 March 2005, Tuấn initiated development on Estuary, a open-source version control software. Three months later, he turned over its maintenance to Hoàng Ngọc Huyền, a major contributor to the project.
PromeDB
On 15 September 2011, Tuấn began developing PromeDB, a free and open-source bioinformatics database that is widely used by the biology and genetics communities in Quenmin until the present day. The head maintainer of the project is Ngô Duy Khiêm since 2011.
Personal life
Tuấn is married to Trần Triều Nguyệt, a fiction writer, and bore with her one son and two daughters.
Tuấn is a practitioner of Đạo Thái Ðức, a syncretic monotheistic faith, while his wife is a Haimeist.
