Sandra Carter (born May 5, 1954) is a Corintheian politican and former teacher, who is currently serving as the 43rd President of Corintheia. Carter is a member of the Progressive Party and de facto leader. She recently served as the Secretary of Education under former president Patrick Reed from 2009 until 2013. From 1999 until 2009 she served as a Senator from Pacifica and from 1993 until 1999 served as a Representative from Pacifica's 12th congressional district.
After graduating from Mountcrest University in 1976 with a degree in Education, she taught 5th grade at Seaside Harbor Elementary School in Seaside Harbor, Pacifica from 1976 until 1988. In 1988 she was elected to serve on the Harbor View School Ditrict's School Board, where she representated the 3rd district until 1992. In 2009, former president Patrick Reed nominated her to serve in his administration's second term as the Secretary of Education. Carter ran for president in 2012 but lost to Matthew Lewis.
In 2020, Carter ran for president a second time and received her party's nomination in July of 2020. She defeated her rival, George Galloway on election day, winning the popular vote and a majority of votes in the Electoral College. She was inaugurated on January 15, 2021, as the 43rd President of Corintheia. Carter is the second woman to serve as president, after Carol Harris who was elected in 1992 and 1996. On May 1, 2023, Carter announced her intention to run for a second term in 2024.
Early life
Carter was born to parents Lionel (1921-1982), a factory worker and Elaine (1926-2018), a housewife. She has a brother, William (1952) who owns a construction company.

Carter has stated she is pro-choice and will work hard to expand reproductive rights.
Cannabis
Carter is in favor of federally funding studies for potential medical marijuana legalization but says more studies need to be done to fully discover the benefits. She is against legalizing marijuana recreationally, having said, "If there is not enough evidence of the full potential of medical marijuana and its safety, then how can we say that recreational marijuana provides any benefits to healthy people and their long-term mental health. Many kids are using marijuana, mostly irresponsibly, and are failing in school, sleeping all the time, and becoming lazy. Young kids need to learn the value of hard work not sitting around all day letting their parents wait on them hand and foot."
Her comments on marijuana drew heavy criticism by scientists, doctors, and advocates of legal marijuana useage as an "age old lie that has been told over and over again, based soley on fiction."
LGBTQ+ rights
Carter is in favor in expanding LGBTQ+ rights to equally match those of heterosexual individuals and had said, "My daughter is gay, and to see the fear in her eyes that her parents might reject her on the simple fact of she is a lesbian. No person, no matter how they identify or live their lives should ever have to live in fear of just living." In 2017 she officiated her daughter's wedding.
Personal life
Carter married her husband Robert in October of 1979. They have 3 children together, Austin (born 1981), Bethany (born 1985), and Charlie (born 1986). Both her and her husband have a total of five grandchildren. They currently live in the Residence of the Exectuive Centre, the official home and workspace of the president.
