The 'Poniard-V' 70 mm anti-ship guided rocket is a new 70 mm guided rocket developed based on the LinkLOGIR rockets. The LOGIR rocket is a weapon developed to carry out attacks on enemy small maritime targets(Patrol boats, missile boats, unmanned surface vehicles, etc.) approaching in large quantities. The Poniard-V is a version of the LOGIR rocket that has been improved for use in VLS and fighter jets and has a slightly increased range.
The Poniard-V is operated by VLS, fighter jets, and helicopters. The launched Poniard-V uses Fire-and-forget-aided LinkINS and Infrared homing to accurately hit its target and uses Mach 2 speeds to attack high-speed targets.
The Poniard-V costs $60,000 per rocket, twice the price of the original version of the LOGIR rockets, but nevertheless has a much lower cost than other anti-ship guided missiles.
The Poniard-V is currently operating in Royal Joseon Navy and Royal Joseon Air Force, with operating platforms ranging from Mk 41 VLS, Mk 57 PVLS, KUH-1 ASW helicopters, and KF-24 fighter jets.
