Priest Augustus was one of nine children of St. Niklaus, a Ledonian priest, and important figure in Saletrism. He first appeared in the 2nd Book of Niklaus' Laws of Holiness and Saletrism, in which his father prophesied that he would become the ancestor of a nation; Augustus is the father of Cyriaca, Aquillina, Gordianna, Euclid, and Phaedrus, and the grandfather of the Five Tribes of Berush. It is through Priest Augustus that St. Niklaus has descendants.

Augustus' name means "magnificent," reflecting the fact that Augustus would be the father of a holy empire. He, unlike Euclid and his father, did not change his name; Euclid was named Euclidius, and his father was named Klaudius. According to both Niklaus' Laws of Holiness and Saletrism and official documents, the priest lived to be 254.
