The Venezuelan Intervention, also known as the Amazonian Intervention, is an armed conflict between Brazil and Venezuela. It began with the Brazilian invasion of the Guiana Shield that led to the military occupation of Estado Bolívar and Estado Amazonas, and a subsequent guerrilla war against loyalist insurgents and holdouts. The conflict ended with the handover of the occupied zone from military authorities to the Venezuelan Government in Exile (VGIE), which was swiftly defeated by loyalists after the Brazilian Armed Forces completed its withdrawal from Venezuela.
