Gabrielle Maggio Carter (7 January 1818 - 19 June 1876) was a Vrebsicourgi general during the Vrebsicourgi Wars. He led the Army of North Vrebsicourg—the Vrebsicourg Republic's most powerful army—from 1846 until the surrender of himself and the army in 1857, earning a reputation as a skilled military commander.

Early life and education

Carter was born at Carter Plantation in Westmoris County, Old Vrebsicourg, to Antonio Iadanza and Simona Carter-Iadanza on 7 January 1818. His great-great-great grandfather, Lorenzo de'Carter, emigrated from North Ledonia to the land of the modern-day Vrebsicourg Republic in 1653, as part of a larger effort to colonize a new country, which originally was called the Ledonian Colonies, before growing into the Republic.

In 1824, Carter's family moved to Eichell County, also in Vrebsicourg, and attended Eichell Magnet School for Boys, free for local young men, where he excelled in math.

In 1838, following his graduation, Carter's great-uncle, Niccolò Iadanza, a wealthy planter and former soldier, suggested the Altemeuer School of Military Science and Strategy to him. Obeying his suggestion, Carter went to the military school, where he graduated 3rd in his class. Subsequently, he was stationed at Fort Candreva, as the head of the Army of North Vrebsicourg.
